And to this he raised his arms, circling them above his head and said  ‘I am The Boy Named Crow.’

The Outsider by Camus – Book Illustration

“..the people gradually disappeared, until the street was deserted again and the first cat walked slowly across it.”

Book Illustration for ‘The Outsider’ by Albert Camus as part of my entry for a February 2011 competition run by The House of Illustration in partnership with The Folio Society.

Pencil and digital colour.

Whats on my Drawing Board? The House of Illustration and The Folio Society..

..have put a call out for entries for illustrators to make some illustrations for one of my most loved books. Yes! I got to this this late so I am working hard and enjoying it. What do i most like to do? Simple things like reading, thinking and drawing so this is the perfect project for me. The Folio Society publish beautiful editions of brilliant books. It also is looking like The House of Illustration is moving towards being a full bodied center for illustration which is exciting..

The book? The Outsider by Albert Camus, wonderful.

Nicola Rowsell and John Berger are on the same page..

My life drawing is published in the new Artangel brochure. I’m really chuffed to be sharing a page with the wonderful wise John Berger.

these life drawing classes were part of a TV show ‘Life Class: Today’s Nude’ featuring different life models and tutors. I drew the dancer Maria Munoz with John Berger as tutor. I adapted my original drawing to the form of a bird as Maria moved in a bird-like way and i coloured her body red and pink using my bamboo pen and tablet for the first time.
