The Company of Wolves by Angela Carter

I read this story over and over, noting the order of events and it remains ambiguous to me as to whether there should be snow on the ground.

In all the other stories where there is snow on the ground, Angela Carter describes the snow beautifully. There is one proleptic piece of text, ‘her shawl like blood on snow’, to me this seemed to refer to what was to come later, indeed blood and snow came later.

So, I made it look frosty and like it may have snowed.
